Local Brew - Episode II behind the scenes

Check out a set of behind the scenes photos from the taping of Local Brew - Episode II at Maine Beer Company.  These guys are great and make some of the best beer around; their Zoe is among my favorites all time.

Blue Sky

Amazing weather.  Having blasted through about one third of this wedding season, our luck with weather has been remarkable.  Save for a relentless monsoon rain one Saturday in May, blue skies and crisp temps have prevailed.  Later today I'll be ferrying out to Peak's Island for another gem.

Here is a small sampling of images and a couple of links to corresponding emilie inc blog entries.  These entries are always entertaining as they thoughtfully explore the story of the day, and capture the details and moments that make each wedding unique.

sdp joins emilie inc - big news in lowercase

Last summer I joined emilie inc photography and began shooting weddings.  How did this come about?  I sometimes still ask this myself as I am often reminded how fortunate I am to be working with such a highly talented group of photographers.
In answer: the short version is that I met emilie's husband J at a networking event, we became friends, and I asked if the studio was accepting applications.  Nice.  In reality, there was a bit more to it.
The previous summer I had introduced myself to veteran emilie shooter Whitney as she was covering my cousin Cameron's wedding on Southport Island near Boothbay.  I had browsed the portfolio and checked out emilie's site extensively, very impressed.  I had also already met photographer and office manager, Megan, at a photographers gathering in Scarborough.  But the kicker was when my friend Susannah (Susannah Gill Photography) found out I had joined the team and exclaimed, "I introduced you and emilie on the floor of the PhotoPlus expo in nyc two years ago!!'  I am a sucker for small world stories so I had to share.
Please check out my very first emilie inc blog entry recounting my experiences at WPPI in Las Vegas, and a few images from last summer below.

Baggage Battles - worlds colliding

Last month, I shot an episode of Travel Channel's Baggage Battles in Port Newark and Soho.  The timing was fortuitous; flying home from Las Vegas with emilie inc photography (more on that shortly), I hopped off the red eye at JFK, and taxied into the city.  I had a full Thursday to recover before a Friday shoot day.  Posting up at my homie's in midtown, I spent most of the day recovering and eating Chinese delivery, but also busted crosstown to pick up a sound blimp from my old studio on 54th, and kicked it with a couple of my favorite peeps at an old haunt.

Piling into the crew van early the next morning, it was off to Port Newark's humongous US customs warehouse to open bags and shipping crates.  Worlds collided when we needed an appraisal on three bicycles and headed into Soho and Bicycle Habitat to speak to Charlie McCorkel.  Not only is Charlie the resident expert, and a bicycle guru,  he is also a long time Bullet customer.  Good times all around.

Check out a couple of photos from the episode below, and here is a full gallery on Travel's website.  Baggage Battles premiered on April 11, and airs Wednesdays at 10pm.

Green Bee Soda

Green Bee Soda is sweetened with local wildflower honey, and contains only four ingredients. The stuff is delicious, refreshing, and has tiny bubbles like a quality beer or champagne. Check out the website and facebook page for more info.
